AI agent governance

Governance only counts when it changes what happens. Policy in a document does not stop an action. Policy in the execution path does.

What is AI agent governance?

AI agent governance is the set of policies, controls and records that define what AI agents may do inside business systems, and that prove what they did. Action control is the enforcement part of governance.

From written policy to enforced policy

Most companies already have the rules. Refund limits, discount approvals, deletion restrictions and communication rules exist for human staff.

Agent governance starts by moving those same rules into the agent execution path, so the rule applies whether a person or an agent proposes the action.

The three questions governance has to answer

  • What are agents allowed to do autonomously?
  • Which actions need a named human decision?
  • How do we show, months later, why an action was taken?

Practical scope

Gatewise focuses on the enforcement and record layer for business actions. It is not a compliance suite and does not replace your risk process. It gives that process a control point that actually holds.
